  1. Hi Shailah,

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey! It's great to have you participating. I'm especially excited because you have chosen to visit Canada, my home country! Canada is truly a spectacular place. It is very large and very diverse. In many ways it is also quite similar to New Zealand. The people in both countries are very friendly and the landscape is equally rugged. A major difference between the two countries is the number of people who live there. At home there are almost 36 million people living in the country while there are only 4 million here in New Zealand.

Would you prefer to live in a big country like Canada or a smaller country like New Zealand? There are pros and cons to both, I reckon!

I'm looking forward to reading more of your blog posts as the summer goes on.

    Welcome to the journey :)

    Rachel

  3. Hi Shailah,
Oh, Canada! It is great to read some interesting facts about Canada on your blog. The common sports played in Canada that you have listed look quite different to New Zealand's most popular sports! Do you like to play and/or watch sports? If you had to choose one of the sports, which one would you pick?
